Place all of your racist remarks, debates, jokes, etc. here. Keep it clean, though! This is mostly for discussion, but jokes are allowed when paired with a good argument.
My starting statement is that it is a fact that we are all racist. Ape has pointed out in the now off-topic and locked "Gay/Homosexuality", but it is fact that we are racist. Unless you were raised in a box with nobody around you, you have some racism in you. Just like with religion, how we were raised effects our lifestyle. This does not mean that everyone is either a Neo-Nazi, a Black Panther, a Mexican Mafia member, etc., just that we all have natural stereotypes. I live in America, and I will admit that if I see an African American that's got a shot-up car, rap music on, and one of those bandanna things, then I think he's a criminal. I will NOT, though, stereotype all African Americans. If I see a hard-working, kind guy, I'll assume he's a good guy.
* EDIT: Racism is the hatred of a race, Bass. I should have changed the name to something having to do with stereotypes and bias, My bad. Thanks, Bass, for pointing that out. Also, that means that instead of "racist", I probably meant "biased".

I think most people are racist. But that doesn't have to be a bad thing.

Similar to what I've said about homophobes, I believe it's not the person alone, but the world around them which makes one racist. With stuff like the war on terror and the growing perception that jobs are being stolen by people of another country, rather than the jobs simply being outsourced, it's natural for people to begin to develop a hatred towards people of a specific ethnic group. Edit: My starting statement is that it is a fact that we are all racist. Ape has pointed out in the now off-topic and locked "Gay/Homosexuality", but it is fact that we are racist. Wait... what?

Oh, my bad, I thought someone locked it. Anywho, I agree Pugus, in that it isn't the person but their environment. Anyways, could I get staff to change the name to "Bias: The Forum"?

You could try Frogz. And for me, if I was racist then I wouldn't tell everyone I was. I'd get shot, I'd just keep the nasty comments to myself.

This is what swear words were made for. If you get shot, its not so unnatural to let a racial slur come from your mouth, naturally maybe you wouldnt say it, but when in enough pain...... he'll you'll say just about anything. Pain.. Its... painful, that wasnt much to the topic but specifically to the getting shot comment. No one gets shot and just says: "Ouch >.< Well thats just too bad for me." I bet if you shot ghandi in the knee he'd surprise everyone

Probably but Ghandi probably went through rigorous training to hone his body and spirit and build a pain tolerance. Pain is the name of the game. If you can outlast a bullet wound and not cuss and yell racial slurs then you can survive anything albeit a train slamming into your body.

I'll quote a great man by the name of Stephen Colbert. You may know him. "I don't see race, everyone looks the same. I say I'm white because that's what people say I am."
I try to follow his idea. Ignore the skin-colour and learn to like/dislike based on the personality.
I'll now attempt to create a memorable quote here for future reference based on this:
"Nothing should be based on skin colour. Only by their actions and reactions, should conflict or agreement be created." - Drakenlot, May 2009

I think people in general are just waaay too anal about "race issues" these days. If I'm joking around with a friend of another race and we poke fun at each other, people actually look at us like "Oh em gee, they didn't just go there." It's insane. Race is funny. Stereotypes are funny. If you take things too seriously, you're going to wind up alone. With ferrets, and bills.

jenny its not that some people are just too serious. (Scratch that, not ALL people fall into that.) You just gotta.... understand both sides of the joke, or whatever your doing. For example your closest friend ever pokes fun at.... i donno, you... being bald, as your closest friend, they know that you know your not being serious, and you know that thier not trying to hurt you or anything, so even if it seems like a cheap shot, its like, whatever. , if my close close friend pokes some race oriented fun, im cool. Its my close close friend, whereas if some random white person were to come up to me with the same thing, its simply different. This is why people have friends, and the ones who get serious about the race jokes are the ones who let people get too comfortable around them and end up getting pissed off at this random person hanging around thier neck.

Racisim to me is how you take it. like what jenny said. i can joke around with mates of other races and we can tease each other, heck one of my mates nicknames is blackie, because.... well you can guess. He is aboriginal, and a really nice fella, but he can't walk up to other aboriginals and say and i quote "sup ni**az" because they turn around like menacingly and shiz threatening to beat him up, he is the same "colour" as them. How stupid?
Around my old school, it was racist to call and african black, but accepted to call a caucasian person whitey, whiteass whatever. Racism is always going to be around, but i think it can be lessened if people could handle a joke which is what it sometimes is.
I mean the world has extremists, and in my opinion they dont deserve any air time, i think they do deserve a bullet though.

Old thread, I know.. But I think people could take a lot from my perspective on this.. I am not racist. I can say that honestly. But I am very "culturist." I am biased against different cultures. If I see any skin color that talks like they're ignorant, I don't like them. Meaning ebonics or talking like a gangster. I despise the gangster-like culture, I think it's completely ridiculous and extremely degrading to ones self. It just makes the person look like a moron in my eyes. I can't take a person seriously if they are wearing jeans too baggy, shirt too large, and a hat on backwards.. with everything completely matching. Ugh! I don't understand anything they say, "hey mama" or "what it do" and I have to stand there dumbfounded. I think it is O.K. to not be fond of a certain culture. I was raised in the American culture and that is what I am used to, and like. Other cultures are different to me and some are quite interesting, but the gangster culture I hate. It doesnt matter if they have dark or light skin. People raised in that culture just tend to annoy me. Has nothing to do with skin color. Lo siento if I offended anybody.

My view has long followed a quote from my father, and I feel it perfectly describes my mindset:
'It's not racist if you hate everybody'
